It’s all about “Subluxation”
There are 33 bones in the spine. The spine helps use move, but it also protects the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.
The spine is like a suit of armour, protecting the nervous system.
The nervous system controls EVERY function in your body
These bones can become stuck, and this can cause dysfunction, affect movement, and press on nerves
This is called a subluxation (pronounced “sub – lux – a – tion.”)
Nerves travel everywhere in the body, and depending on where the nerves go, this could affect function in our body, our organs, or anywhere. Nerves messages are going back to our brain also.
Eventually this subluxation can cause symptoms in the body.
Symptoms are the end point – an effect.
What causes subluxation?
Some of the obvious causes of subluxation are things like sports traumas, motor vehicle accidents, slips and falls.
But what we find much more commonly is that subluxation will result from the cumulative effects of our bad habits – things like poor posture, poor sleep positions, and poor positions in the workplace – these things add up.
Subluxation may occur at birth, and throughout childhood
Did you know your government doesn’t allow us to say that “Subluxation commonly occurs at birth” !!!! We have to say it “may” occur.
Subluxation may also occur after birth, or with bumps etc when we are a child)
Subluxation does not self correct.
This is why we make it a priority to check all members of the family for subluxation.
So what’s the role of your Chiropractor at OptiStart Chiropractic?
Our job as a Chiropractor is to find subluxation, and correct it.
